Booze, Bullshit and Butt-fuckin'

This Gin comes to you live from the fabulous Graduate and Professional Students Club at Yale (GPSCY); work has been legendarily slow for the last week or so on account of Spring Break '05 so I decided to get some writing done while tending the door tonight.
As the title of this Gin suggests, I've got a bit of an apology to make. I've been spending a lot of time over at the New Athens and I've been sort of neglectful of my responsibilities here. Truth be told, I've been sort of neglectful of everything lately--that's what happens when you go on 'vacation'--and letting all sorts of shit slide. Well, no more! The buck stops here! Enough is enough! (Assorted cliches, words to their effect, etc.)
Honestly, however, it's not all just booze, bullshit and butt-fuckin' this time around. The New Athens is really going to be something special and, with a little bit of hard work from everyone, 'may,' in the immortal words of the Actraiser angel, 'one day became a peaceful place to live.'
As I understand it, the website is supposed to work as a hub--it's the point on the internet that is equidistant from each of the private and corporate projects that orbit it. Imagine the work of myself and those who are conspirators with me as a wheel--an enormous, diabolical Catherine wheel of booze, bullshit and butt-fuckin' that swirls balefully overhead at all times. The New Athens is to be the axel of this nefarious and fateful wheel and projects like DemonGin, The Proscriptions, Trevor's Qpalzm, the nascent VG-Babel, Jeff's hilarious and incomplete MyPS2isBustedAsFuck.com and even the sporadic Petrine insights that appear on The Weekly Pete are like the spokes protruding from the axle that is the New Athens (the tongue or tire has no place in this metaphor).
And so I've been working (tirelessly!) towards making the New Athens an hospitable place and one germane to our various purposes.
I've also making a considerable effort to promulgate the idea that the New Athens isn't just a 'No Girls Allowed' kind of private, Nintendo-like treehouse where only certain people are welcome. The website takes as its namesake, after all, that famous C5BC Mediterranean metropolis where Democracy learned to thrive alongside brutal hegemony and, perhaps, the world's first proper Empire. Thus the New Athens aspires to be like that ancient nest of spicery--inviting to and accommodating and tolerant of all manner of intellectual commerce. What I'm trying to say is that everyone is welcome to register in the Forum and toss their two bits, hat or towel into the ring as the occasion seems to warrant.
All that having been said, you can mark this in history as the last time I overtly attempt to raise awareness about the New Athens here on DemonGin (the website that is now and forever your source for Demonic Existentialist Metaphysics!, abusive and intolerant rhetorics of Harm and convoluted, rage-fueled pedantry).
