Basically, what you've got here is The Killers' Hot Fuss minus the arena hooks, ham-fisted attempts at soul and Euro-style preset-heavy synth-work. We Are Scientists actually boasts a number of advantages over The Killers: more competent guitar playing, less lyrical diversity (which is a godsend when you're talking about bands writing rock records in 20XX--keep it simple, keep it stupid) and an actual drummer.
