In The Shock Doctrine, Naomi Klein describes the rough imposition and impregnable defenses of Iraq's so-called "Green Zone". She points out that the walls of all such focal points for political, social and economic authority are correctly understood as the "stark partitions between the included and the excluded, the protected and the damned."
The concept of the "Zona Roja" tag is that it will be used wherever genuine opposition to remote political, social and economic control can be identified.
